Fall 2006 Game 1

Wasting no time in making a strong first impression on her new team mates, Danielle Schwiezer scored two first half goals as the Scotch Plains Blue Sharks U14 Girls intercounty team opened their fall season on a successful note with a 6-0 shutout of Plainfield Saturday at Cedar Brook Park in Plainfield.

Schwiezer one of only two new players on the team opened the scoring with a long high shot in the corner from 25 yards out. Emily Cohen increased the margin, neatly taking a cross out of the air and hitting a one time shot into the goal from ten yards. Schweizer increased the margin, scoring on a breakaway near the end of the first half.

The visitors continued to apply pressure in the second half which resulted in goals by Sarah Weber, Melissa McKenna and Cohen, who completed the scoring with her second goal. McKenna, who starred in goal in the first half, connected on a penalty shot.

Rebecca DiGiacomo and Erin Brown split the goal keeping duties in the second half.
