Game 3 Spring 2006
With a slide that Derek Jeter would have been proud of, Amanda Rodriguez was able to redirect Nikki Hodulik’s cross into the goal with six minutes left to give the Scotch Plains Blue Sharks U14 Girls intercounty team their first win of the season, 1-0 over Scotch Plains Ross, Sunday afternoon at Terrill Middle School.
The victory, which raises their record to 1-2, came after the teams battled through a scoreless tie with few scoring chances. As usual, Goalie Melissa McKenna played solidly in goal, with assistance from Rodriguez, who played goalie for 15 minutes in the second half.
Other standouts included Lauren Buckley, Lauren Berk, Sarah Lazarus, Toni Ann Capece, Sarah Weber, Annie Rubin, Jessica DiGiacomo, Rebecca DiGiacomo, Emily Cohen, Jessica Feeley, Erin Brown and Giulia Mercuri.
Standouts for the losers included former Shark Desli DeMarsico as well as Caitlin Hoynes-O’Connor, Gina Pelosi and Neha Pannuri.
